Zakharova pointed to the US obsession with total war
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed to the US obsession with total war. The comment was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Zakharova, this is shown by the statement of the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, about expanding the number of countries ready to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Austin’s words “demonstrate Washington’s obsessive focus on all-out hybrid war with Russia ‘to the last Ukrainian’,” she added.
“Washington should think about the consequences of its increasingly aggressive actions, fraught with a direct military confrontation with Russia and a repeat of a humiliating failure for the United States akin to Vietnam or Afghanistan,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman concluded.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the United States must abandon empty fantasies about defeating Russia if they are interested in resuming the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). He added that the renewal of the document in the conditions of the West’s hybrid war against Moscow is out of the question.
