Chernavin was 94 years old. He died on the night of March 18, at about 01.30 in the hospital.

According to the channel, farewell to the Soviet commander-in-chief will be held at the military memorial in the town of Mytishchi near Moscow.

Vladimir Nikolaevich was born in 1928. He graduated from the Ulyanovsk Mechanical College and the Baku Naval Preparatory School, as well as the Higher Naval School named after M. V. Frunze.

Chernavin – Hero of the Soviet Union, was appointed Admiral of the Fleet in 1983, and also served as Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR from 1985 to 1992.

He was awarded the medal Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order the Order of Courage, “For Naval Merit”, two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, the Order of the Red Banner, the Red Star and “To the Glory of the Russian Navy”.
