President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a law providing for punishment of up to 7 years in prison for discrediting participants in a special military operation (SVO), including volunteers. About it informs RIA News.

The article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on fakes in relation to the army and the military now also applies to volunteers participating in the SVO.
The maximum punishment under this article is up to 15 years in prison.
In case of an administrative offense, the fine will be up to 500,000 rubles for legal entities and up to 50,000 for individuals.
Previously Ludmila Narusova was the only member Federation Councilwho voted against the law on punishment for discrediting members of the NWO. In her opinion, the law does not spell out the difference between criticism and discredit.
