On March 10, Pope Francis expressed the opinion that the “imperial interests” of various states, and not just Russia, are involved in the conflict in Ukraine. The Pontiff said he was ready to meet with the President of Russia Vladimir Putincalling the Russian leader “a man of culture”.
On Forgiveness Sunday (according to the Catholic calendar – ed.), the Roman bishop called on Russians and Ukrainians to forgive each other, and also asked the authorities of their countries to sit down at the negotiating table.
