IN Kazakhstan general elections of deputies of the Majilis (lower house) of the parliament and maslikhats (local representative bodies of power) of all levels have started, Interfax reports.
“As of 07:00 AM time Astana (4:00 Moscow time) in the regions, 8,272 polling stations started voting and 13 – at the representative offices of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 12 foreign states, including the Consulate General in Omsk,” Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic Konstantin Petrovreports TASS.
It is reported that the majority of the 10.2 thousand polling stations (of which 77 are outside the country) open in the regions of the republic for voting at 07:00 local time, but some stations set the voting start time from 06:00. At the same time, all polling stations will close at 20:00 local time, and the counting of votes will begin. 12.3 million people must take part in the voting.
