Japan protests North Korea over missile launch

“Such actions by the DPRK pose a threat to the peace and security of Japan, as well as the entire international community. They are completely unacceptable,” Eno stressed. “In this regard, we protested through the embassy in Beijing.”

Eno also stated that the rocket flew by up to 800 km, reaching a maximum height of up to 50 km, falling outside the exclusive economic zone of Japan. “There is a possibility that the missile could have a variable flight path,” the deputy minister said.

Japanese patrol ships urged ships in the region not to approach them in the event of the discovery of fragments of ammunition and immediately contact the authorities. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida instructed the departments to begin collecting and analyzing information about Pyongyang’s new missile launch.

On March 16, North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, the eighth test since the beginning of the year. The launch was made before the start of the first visit of the President of South Korea to Japan in 12 years, where one of the topics of negotiations was the nuclear missile program of Pyongyang.
