The placement of HIMARS Blaszczak announced at the ceremony of the military oath of the soldiers of the Polish Army.
According to the minister, already in 2023, HIMARS will go into service with the 16th mechanized division, stationed near the Kaliningrad region.
Blaszczak said that Poland ordered these systems from the United States back in 2019. The US Congress has approved Warsaw’s bid for 500 HIMARS launchers.
According to the minister, it is important for Poland to get weapons that “have shown themselves to be very successful in the hands of Ukrainians.”
At the end of February 2023, Poland installed anti-tank hedgehogs on the border with the Kaliningrad region. Blaszczak called it “a preventive measure that is part of the Polish defense and deterrence strategy.”
It was reported that in March, Poland will start building a new fence on the border with Russia, which will be equipped with a system of sensors and cameras for round-the-clock monitoring.
