“The president Erdogan stated that Ankara intends to continue negotiations with Sweden in good faith and that the further development of the process will directly depend on the concrete steps that Sweden will take,” the statement says.
According to Erdogan, Finland is “positively different from Sweden”, so Ankara has begun the process of approving the protocol on Helsinki’s accession to NATO in the Grand National Assembly of the Republic.
Turkey started the process of ratifying the Finnish application on Friday 17 March. So far, the application of Helsinki and Stockholm has not been ratified by Turkey and Hungary.
