The number of victims of devastating earthquakes that occurred in February in Turkey, increased to almost 49.6 thousand, of which 6.8 thousand are foreigners. This was announced to journalists on Saturday by the vice-president of the country Fuat Oktay.

“As a result of earthquakes with an epicenter in the province of Kahramanmaras, 49,589 people died, of which 6,807 were foreign citizens,” he said.
The total damage from the disaster, according to a report released on Friday by the Turkish Treasury Department, exceeded $105 billion. Material losses could reach 9% of the country’s projected GNP in 2023, follows from the document.
