The ruins of the historical monument “House of Orbeli” in Pavlovo, Vsevolozhsk district, Leningrad region, were shown by a subscriber of the “Koltushi forever” group. Firefighters extinguished it for almost two hours.
According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Leningrad Region, a signal about a fire on Bukov Street was received shortly before seven o’clock in the evening on May 5. By nine o’clock in the evening, sixteen people extinguished the fire.
The building is out of service and there are no casualties.

The building in which the physiologist, one of the creators of evolutionary physiology, academician Leon Orbeli lived, was built in 1935. It has been given the status of an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. Since 1998, a safe-conduct certificate has been issued for him. Local residents remember the sign with plans for repairs.
The scientific town of Pavlova is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The burned house was among his objects. By the way, the house and Pavlov himself was mothballed and awaiting restoration, but also burned down in April 2017.
