He women’s basketball team of the University of Huelva (UHU) has been proclaimed champion of Andalusia in the Andalusian University Championship 2023which has been held in recent days at the University of Seville, with which the Huelva university students also get a pass to play the National University Championship, which will take place in Segovia from April 23 to 26.
The university students, led by Juan Antonio Brass Rebollo, prevailed in the grand final against the hosts, from the University of Seville, whom they beat by 68-63. The game was marked by alternation on the scoreboard until reaching the last quarter , when the women from Seville managed to open a gap of 9 points ahead with just three minutes to go until the end of the match, after which the girls from Huelva reacted and not only reduced the difference, but also endorsed a 12-0 run to end the game with the aforementioned score.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal tie, the women’s team of the University of Huelva they beat the representatives of Córdoba by a tight 92-91, with which they got their pass to the semifinals, in which they beat the University of Málaga by another tight result, 67-64.
From Huelva they have congratulated the entire expedition and have expressed their satisfaction for this “great success of our University”, which did not have any forecast to win the final victory. In addition, from the UHU they have highlighted that “all this would not have been possible without the help of the Baloncesto Huelva la Luz sports club”, with which there is a collaboration agreement between both entities.
