He port of huelva hosts from this Friday until Sunday different events framed in a day organized by the Arqueo Huelva Cultural Association under the title of ‘Huelva, the heart of Tartessos. I Heritage day in the surroundings of the Ría‘, which will be held at the Reception and Documentation Center of the Port of Huelva with the collaboration of the Huelva port, as part of the activities to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
The day includes an exhibition called ‘100 years. Bronzes of the Ría’, in which the public will be able to enjoy a set of unique pieces of Tartessian origin that have marked the history of Huelva and the world, as well as offering a historical journey through the evolution and history of the Ría de Huelva and its environment, as well as the Huelva Phoenician and Tartessian footprint, and other significant remains of the Tartessian culture.
In this way, the exhibition, with the collaboration of the Provincial Museum of Huelva, has unique pieces (replicas) such as swords, daggers and other objects extracted in 1923, new helmets from the Ría such as the Greek helmet (PH), Reshef statuettes and Anath, Reshef’s arm, among others, as well as photographs that capture these historical moments.
The president of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, has assured that the port of huelva, in its commitment to bring the port closer to the city and on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Port of Huelva, collaborates in the organization of this event, “which will contribute to publicizing the history of the Port of Huelva and the city , linked to the footprint left by different civilizations such as Tartessos. This is demonstrated by the findings of the estuary, which are part of the exhibition 100 years. Bronzes of the estuary”.
The president of the Arqueo Huelva Cultural Association, Jorge Cotallo, has stated that “these conferences propose a journey to enjoy Huelva’s long-awaited Tartessian legacy, which we need to value. For this reason, we have organized a complete program of activities”.
The exhibition will open its doors tomorrow, March 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and can be visited until Sunday 19. On Saturday, March 18, it will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. On Sunday it can be visited in the morning from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Likewise, guided tours will be offered on Saturday 18 at the following times: 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday 19: 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
‘Huelva, the heart of Tartessos. I Heritage day in the surroundings of the Ría’ includes two conferences. The first will take place on March 17 at the Reception and Documentation Center of the Port of Huelva starting at 6:00 p.m. The presentation is entitled ‘Huelva. The heart of Tartessos’ and will be taught by Dr. Clara Toscano Pérez, professor in the area of Archeology at the University of Huelva and director of the research project and enhancement of the Tartessian site of Tejada la Vieja.
The second conference ‘The Port of Huelva. The origin of a city’, will be carried out by Dr. Javier Bermejo Meléndez, professor in the area of Archeology at the University of Huelva, and director of the Vrbanitas de La Onubense research group.
Activities on the Paseo de la Ría
Likewise, on Saturday, March 18, there will be a historical re-enactment on the rituals of antiquity, by the group ‘Divulgación Tanit’. It will be from 12:30 pm on the Paseo de la Ría in the Port of Huelva.
Also on Paseo de la Ría, it will host on Saturday March 18, from 10:00 to 12:00, various workshops such as ‘Helmets and Swords of Tartessos’, and a gymkhana for the little ones.
