
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation recognized it as “undesirable” on the territory Russian Federation German NGO “Solidarity with the civil movement in Russia – Solidarus”. The message about this appeared on the website of the department on Friday, March 17.
Prosecutor General’s Office accuses Solidarusthat the activities of the organization are allegedly “aimed at inspiring protest moods in Russian society, attempts to generate false information about the alleged illegality of certain actions of the Russian authorities in terms of restricting the rights and freedoms of citizens” of Russia. “This organization interferes in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, which poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order, territorial integrity and security of the state,” the Prosecutor General’s Office says.
The department sent information about its decision to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, “for entering information into the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
The Solidarius website says that the NGO is engaged in supporting civil society and monitoring the human rights situation in Russia and the countries of the former USSR. In particular, the organization supports political emigrants from Russia.
“Unwanted” German NGOs in Russia
This is far from the first German NGO, recognized in Russia as “undesirable”. So, in May 2022, a similar status was assigned to the Heinrich Böll Foundation, after which the fund’s website was blocked in Russia.
