The supermarkets The Ham from the province of Huelva host from this Friday until March 26 a special face-to-face and virtual collection with which the Solidarity Spring Operation 2023 that he Huelva Food Bank (BAH) developed with the sponsorship of the Port Authority of Huelva.
This is yet another solidarity action with which the Cash Lepe group wants to demonstrate its social commitment to the people of Huelva and, specifically, once again support a campaign by the Huelva Food Bank, which aims to respond to the increase in demand of food in the province of Huelva.
The beginning of this special food collection has been carried out symbolically in the El Jamón supermarket on Avenida de Portugal in Huelva, attended by Juan García Aranda and Juan Carlos Cueto, from Supermercados El Jamón; the vice president of the Food Bank of Huelva, Francisco Quijada; and the president of the Huelva Port Authority, Pilar Miranda.
The representative of Supermercados El Jamón, Juan Carlos Cueto, was pleased to welcome once again the start of a solidarity action as important as the one carried out by the Food Bank, which begins in the establishments of this chain throughout the province with the donation of food on March 17 and 18 and from there to March 26 with cash donations, which the Food Bank will exchange directly in the same supermarket for the most necessary food.
Cueto indicated that all the staff of Supermercados El Jamón “get to work so that the collection is the maximum because we know that there are many people who need it”, calling on the participation of customers because “with little we help” .
The president of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, highlighted the “invaluable work carried out by the Food Bank” for the benefit of the most vulnerable people and congratulated this entity for regularly organizing these food collection campaigns.
Pilar Miranda highlighted that “the Port of Huelva is a port with a heart, committed to its environment, which collaborates with different groups such as the Food Bank within the framework of our port-city integration strategy, to also contribute to social development and promote a better quality of life for citizens.
The vice president of the Food Bank, Francisco Quijada, thanked the “unconditional” commitment shown by El Jamón supermarkets with BAH, which “is always by our side, making its stores available to us for the different collections of food and donations that we need to bring carried out to be able to attend to all the people who need it”.
In the same way, he also highlighted the “important and fundamental” support provided to BAH by the Huelva Port Authority “always and more now that we are in very difficult times due to the increase in Bank beneficiaries and the decrease in food that arrives to us ”.
The vice president of the Bank called on Huelva society to join this campaign in order to help the thousands of Huelva families in need, since the Bank suffered a 25% drop in food collected last year.
In addition to donating food or making donations at El Jamón supermarkets in the province until Sunday 26, people who wish can also collaborate with Operation Spring Solidarity 2023, with contributions through the web www.bancodealimentosdehuelva.orgwhich also provides account numbers to make transfers, a bizum identifier and even the possibility of making direct payments by credit card so that solidarity can be channeled through the route preferred by citizens, companies, entities or associations .
This solidarity operation will be carried out with different actions in person and online until the month of June to gather the support of Huelva society that is necessary to guarantee the food supply of the more than 15,000 beneficiaries of the Huelva Food Bank. In the coming weeks, other specific food collections will take place in other commercial establishments in the province.
The Huelva Food Bank is a non-profit charity organization whose main purpose is to obtain free food of all kinds for donation and subsequent distribution to charities throughout the province. The Huelva Food Bank distributed 2.8 million kilograms of food in 2022 through Beneficiary Entities (EEBB) that were responsible for delivering the food to the more than 15,000 final beneficiaries. The Food Bank Association has a history of 23 years collaborating closely with entities, public administrations, companies and public and private institutions.
