German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he plans to hold “at the right time” talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discuss the conflict in Ukraine. He spoke about this in an interview with Kolner Stadt-Anzeigerbroadcasts May 26 “Kommersant”.
The last time Putin and Scholz spoke was in December 2022, when the conversation lasted an hour.
During the interview, the German Chancellor was asked if he was in contact with the Russian leader.
“It has been quite a while since my last phone call. But I intend to talk to Putin again at the right time,” he said.
Scholz also added that Germany will continue to support Ukraine. He also stressed that he would do everything to prevent a direct conflict between NATO and Russia.
