The deputy spokesperson for the Deputation and mayor of the roundaboutSalvador Gómez, and the delegate of Culture and Festivals of La Redondela, Lorena Medero, have presented at a press conference ‘The day of Coca’a program of activities around the typical Lenten sweet and Easterwhich will be held next Sunday, March 19, in the coastal town.
Thus, from the City Council, several points of sale have been set up so that all those who visit La Redondela can taste and try this traditional sweet from the area.
Likewise, the City Council has also wanted to appeal to the sense of hearing and has organized, for the same day, multiple concerts with cofrade music bands. The activities will begin with a parade at 12:00 pm by the Lepe Symphonic Band, the Cristo de la Buena Muerte Musical Group (Ayamonte) and the Santa Águeda Musical Group (Villalba del Alcor). At 12:30 p.m., the concert of the three aforementioned bands will be held in the Plaza del Concejo.
Then, at 4:30 p.m., there will be a talk on ‘Tradition of the sack and the costaleros’, by Javier Prieto, foreman of Antonio Santiago’s team, from Seville. In addition, there will be a concert of processional marches offered by the musician and composer Daniel Albarrán, author of the ‘Esperanza de La Redondela’ march.
Gómez, who has thanked the Huelva Provincial Council for their collaboration on this day, has encouraged all citizens to come to La Redondela this Sunday and discover the unique flavor of this magnificent and traditional Lenten sweet, the best in the entire province ”.
For her part, the delegate for Culture and Festivals, Lorena Medero, has indicated that “the history of coca in La Redondela is lost in time, therefore, from the City Council, we want to value it so that it reaches all those people They don’t know it yet.”
