In May 2023, the New Stage. Sun. Meyerhold is celebrating its tenth anniversary – and in honor of this event, the Alexandrinsky Theater will host a three-day New X festival. The program for May 12–14 includes all key areas of Novaya’s activity — theatre, dance, music, and media art.
ShareThe festival starts at noon on May 12 with the grand opening of the monument to Vsevolod Meyerhold in the courtyard of the New Stage. And in the evening, from 19:00 to 20:00, the media center will host a dialogue between Valery Fokin and Andrey Moguchy about the New Stage – about what plans were ten years ago, when the New Stage was created, and how they were implemented, and about the theater in general . You can listen to the speech online at public theater in “VKontakte”. 16+
At 20:00, the premiere of the performance-installation “New Scene X Files” by director Kirill Lyukevich (4elovekvmaske, UFO) will take place. Spectators will get into a walker-journey through the performances that have been staged on the New Stage in the past ten years. 16+
ShareThe second day will be devoted to dancing, and its main event will be the presentation on the New Stage of a new work by the choreographer, laureate of the National Theater Award “Golden Mask” Ksenia Mikheeva “Restless” to the music of Ilya Lagutenko. The dance performance starts at 19:30. 16+
Also on the same day, the audience will have a discussion about modern dance and its future and a performance from the dance company OMYT – it will take place at 18:30 in the Foyer, admission is free, but registration is required.
ShareThe next day – it will be dedicated to music – JANE AIR, an alternative music group, will perform with a special program, accompanied by wind and string groups of the symphony orchestra. Fans have almost sold out all the tickets, so those who did not have time will have to be content online broadcast. 18+
On May 14 at 20:00 in the Foyer, the audience is waiting for another performance – from the conceptual choir Attack de Panique, looking for an answer to the question “What should the choir of the 21st century be like?” Entrance is free, by registration. 16+
One of the final events of the festival will be a piano gala with the participation of Nastasya Khrushcheva, Alexei Goribol, Riad Mammadov. The program of the evening on May 15 includes music of the 20th – early 21st centuries, from the Preludes of Kara Karaev and the jazz-mugham “Bayati-Shiraz” by Vagif Mustafzade to the “Russian dead ends” of Khrushcheva. Beginning at 21:00 on the New stage. 16+
Also, all days of the New X festival there will be an exhibition of augmented reality about Meyerhold’s legacy from the New Media Laboratory team, an audio installation from the sounds of the New X, as well as a light installation in the Foyer.
