Inflation in Russia for the period from April 25 to May 2 accelerated to 0.19% after 0.1% a week earlier. This follows from the data of Rosstat published on May 4. Against the backdrop of the barbecue season, meat prices have risen, as well as telephones and cars have risen sharply in price.
Before the May holidays, prices for all types of meat increased, most of all for lamb. It has risen in price by 2.1% in a week, this product is quite niche. Saved by the Russians, who chose beef for kebabs. It over the specified period has risen in price only by 0.18%. Prices for pork increased by 0.23%, for chilled and frozen chicken – by 0.8%.
At the same time, since the beginning of the year, mutton has already risen in price by almost 4%, beef – by 1.2%, and pork – by 0.8%, which seems to be a slight increase on the horizon of five months. Chicken, on the contrary, fell in price – by 2.7%.
While meat has risen in price, vegetables, without which the barbecue table cannot do, have continued to fall in price. Prices for cucumbers fell by 8%, while tomatoes fell by 4.4%. At the same time, another strategically important product for the May feasts – onions – grew by 10.5%. But cabbage showed the biggest growth – heads of cabbage rose in price by 14.5%.
Among non-food products, prices for smartphones (+2.6%) and domestic cars (+1.3%) jumped sharply. Among the services, stays in holiday homes and boarding houses went up by 1.9%.
