— There was no such event in Russia that would draw our attention to such an important area for the country as knowledge about peoples, knowledge about religion, culture, our identity. This is the first Olympiad. The fact that you are in this hall is the result of serious work, the result of the preliminary stage, which was attended by more than 600 applicants from each federal district, from many regions of Russia. This shows, in our opinion, a great interest in this kind of intellectual competitions, – noted, addressing the finalists, the chairman of the Ulyanovsk regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society Dmitry Travkin.
