From June 2 to 4, the international educational campaign of the Russian Geographical Society “Geography Night” will take place for the fourth time, designed to popularize geographical science, the natural and ethnographic heritage of Russia, and domestic tourism. The Society’s own program will be organized on the first weekend of June at the Headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow.
The solemn start of the action will be given on June 2 at 18:00 in the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center at VDNKh in Moscow. Guests of the open event will have a lecture-meeting and an autograph-/photo session with Roscosmos cosmonauts Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov, which will be held as part of the Space Lessons project. The pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Fyodor Yurchikhin will be the host. Registration the event is held on the Timepad platform, the number of places is limited.

At 16:00 at the Headquarters, children will be able to create a painting canvas with the characters of fairy tales – famous travelers and characters passionate about science.
Participants will randomly pull out a card with a description of the character, and then the scope for creativity is limited solely by the imagination of each author. In addition to bright emotions, meeting new friends and a chance to visit the very heart of the Society, young artists are waiting for small memorable gifts. More.

Thanks to the latest technologies, it is now possible to meet with the greatest scientists and pioneers of the past, take a virtual tour of any of the three headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society and fly over the most picturesque corners of our country – from the Barents to the Sea of Japan. At 18:30 from the Metrobridge, an eco-excursion around the Sparrow Hills reserve starts, the participants of which will get acquainted with the flora and fauna of Moscow.
Together with the guests of the event, Nikita Kadetov, a member of the Russian Geographical Society, an employee of the Department of Biogeography of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University named after M.V. The guests will meet with researchers and discoverers of our days – the leaders of the brightest expedition projects of the Russian Geographical Society in recent years. The speakers will reveal some of the secrets of their activities and demonstrate the special equipment used in the Society’s expeditions, share their own impressions of working “in the fields” and tell what modern practical geographers are rightly proud of. At 17:00 there will be a meeting with young participants of expedition projects of the Russian Geographical Society.
Young talented guys are actively involved in the expeditionary activities of the Russian Geographical Society. Guests of the Moscow Headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society will be able to get acquainted with one of them, Alexander Loginov, in the format of a videoconference. Together with his father, a member of the Russian Geographical Society for the Murmansk regional branch, Alexander created the sailing boat “Konyok”, on which the family implemented a unique project to study the waterways of the Russian North and assess the pollution of beaches. At 18:30, a film evening and a meeting with documentary filmmaker, traveler, ethnographer, member of the Russian Geographical Society Leonid Kruglov will take place at the Moscow Headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society.
Guests of the event will see one of the classic films created with the support of the Russian Geographical Society – “The Great Northern Route”. The film screening is dedicated to the 375th anniversary of Semyon Dezhnev’s discovery of the strait between Asia and America. The evening will continue with a meeting with the author of the popular science film, who will tell the audience how his team repeated the legendary route of the great Russian explorer of Northern and Eastern Siberia, what they had to live and experience during this time in order to find the answer to the question about the great events of 400 years ago .
