On May 10, in Moscow, in the Yu. A. Senkevich Memorial Museum, a solemn handover of the collection of multimedia exhibitions of the project “Unknown Heroes of the North” to representatives of the Union of Cities of the Arctic and the Far North will take place. The project is being implemented with the participation of the Russian Geographical Society and financial support from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.

The ceremony will take place at 14:00 at the site of the exhibition dedicated to the development of the Arctic.

The collection includes four exhibitions dedicated to:

– polar explorer, hydrographer, member of the Russian Geographical Society N. I. Evgenov;

– Hero of the Soviet Union, polar pilot A. D. Alekseev;

– the head of many polar expeditions, engineer-vice admiral V. F. Burkhanov;

— 90th anniversary of the glorious history of the exploration of the Arctic (to the 90th anniversary of the Main Northern Sea Route).

Multimedia exhibitions can be used in cultural institutions, museums, educational institutions to get acquainted with the history of the development of the Arctic.

The ceremony will be attended by: President of the Union of Cities of the Arctic and the Far North, Deputy of the State Duma A. B. Veller, Executive Director of the Union of Cities of the Arctic and the Far North L. V. Demikhova, heads of the cities of Murmansk, Norilsk and Dudinka.
