There is a high probability that the Turkish Grand National Assembly (parliament) will ratify the protocol on Finland’s membership in NATO before the May 14 elections. This was stated by the MP from the ruling Justice and Development Party Ibrahim Aydin.
“The protocol has already been submitted to the parliament. In the coming days, the commission on foreign policy issues will carry out the relevant work, only then the issue will be submitted for consideration in the parliament. I think that the issue will be resolved before the elections,” said the deputy, whose words on Sunday, March 18, leads RIA News.
On the eve it became known that the Turkish Parliament started the ratification process Finland’s application for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. This statement was made by the President of Turkey. He also made phone calls with the NATO Secretary General and informed him about the start of Ankara’s ratification of Helsinki’s application.
Finland and Sweden submitted to the NATO Secretary General applications for joining the Alliance last spring. This happened against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine.
