President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voted in the extraordinary elections of deputies to the Majilis (lower house of parliament) and maslikhats (local representative bodies).

Tokayev voted in Astana at polling station number 58. Polling stations in Kazakhstan opened at 7:00 local time, transmits RIA Novosti 19 March.

The head of the government of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, has also already cast his vote in the elections. He did it at polling station number 111 in Astana, clarifies TASS.

All seven parties registered in the republic participate in the elections. The seven lists of parties that are fighting for 69 mandates of Mazhilis deputies include 281 candidates. In addition, 29 single-mandate majoritarian constituencies have been created, within which both party representatives and self-nominated candidates will compete.
