The Russian government has supported the idea of classifying the article on the illegal circulation of means of payment as an “entrepreneurial” one, according to which suspects cannot be placed in custody. About this on Friday, March 17, informs RIA Novosti with reference to the Deputy Head of the Constitutional Committee of the State Duma Sardana Avksentieva.
The parliamentarian noted that we are talking about amendments that are proposed to be made to Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. “Now this “rubber” article is used to imprison entrepreneurs in a pre-trial detention center, as Article 156 (fraud) was previously used,” the deputy said.
According to her, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin instructed to work out the initiative.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia drafted a billdesigned to protect businessmen from excessive pressure from law enforcement officers. It is proposed to prohibit the arrest of entrepreneurs for economic crimes of minor gravity, to reduce the investigation time by half and to strengthen control by the prosecutor’s office. However, the changes will not affect those who have already been arrested and are waiting for the end of the investigation in the pre-trial detention center, but when extending the term, the court will have to be guided by the new rules.
