Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov believes that a one-time payment to the country’s budget is fair. He shared his point of view in an interview with the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the TV channel “Russia 1”.
“Why is it not fair if we see that profits have grown by 2-3 times compared to the usual normal levels?” Siluanov asked. His words quotes Sunday, March 19, RIA Novosti. If we take the volume of profit growth and how much funds will go to the country’s budget, then we are talking about a completely meager amount, the head of the Ministry of Finance explained.
Siluanov said earlier that a one-time payment to the Russian budget would affect only a tenth of domestic companies. And here we are talking only about large profitable business. He also added that businesses will be able to make a contribution in 2024. However, the mechanism will be such that it is more profitable to make payment in 2023.
The funds will be used for infrastructure and social spending. As a result, the money will be returned to entrepreneurs, the head of the RF Ministry of Finance explained. Earlier, the department stated that they would work with the business on a consolidated position on a one-time payment to the country’s budget from previous windfall profits.
