The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, presented the Su-27 pilots for state awards, who prevented the violation of the borders of the NVO region by the US MQ-9 Reaper drone. About this on Friday, March 17, told in the department’s press office.
It is noted that the boundaries of the special operation area were reported to all users of international airspace. In addition, they have been published in accordance with international standards.
The incident with the American drone took place on the morning of March 14. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the MQ-9 violated the borders of the area over the Black Sea, which was given the status of a temporary mode of use due to the NWO. The ministry noted that the drone was moving towards the Russian border in Crimea. To identify the intruder, Russian fighters took to the air. After abrupt maneuvering, the UAV went into uncontrolled flight, lost altitude and fell into the water. The fighters of the VSK RF did not come into contact with the MQ-9 and did not use airborne weapons. The planes returned safely to their base airfield, the military added.
On March 15, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation discussed drone incident with the head of the Pentagon. The conversation took place at the initiative of the American side. Later also there was a telephone conversation between the heads of the General Staffs of the Russian Federation and the United States.
