
Badge of honor “Inhabitant of the besieged Stalingrad”

In Russia, they want to equate persons awarded the sign “Inhabitant of the besieged Stalingrad” with the category of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and give them appropriate legal guarantees of social protection. The government of the Russian Federation submitted such a bill to the State Duma. Document published in the electronic database of the lower house of parliament on Friday, March 17.
The Cabinet of Ministers has prepared amendments to the legislation equating the inhabitants of the besieged Stalingrad with WWII veterans, on behalf of the president. From 2023, such people will be entitled to monthly cash payments, the simultaneous receipt of two pensions and the opportunity to improve their living conditions, if necessary, at the expense of the federal budget.
“This year we are celebrating a very significant event in our national history, which reminds us of the incredible courage and fortitude of our people. 80 years have passed since the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad,” – told Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
