Vladimir Putin arrived in Sevastopol on the Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia. The region celebrates the ninth anniversary of joining the Russian Federation. An accession referendum was held on March 16, 2014.
According to the channelNews“, in Sevastopol, Putin was shown the Korsun School of Arts and the center for children near Tauric Chersonese (a branch of Artek). The latter is designed to accommodate children who come to Sevastopol to see the sights. Up to 300 children can stay in the center at the same time.
The day before, on March 17, the President of the Russian Federation held a meeting on the socio-economic development of the region. The press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, said earlier that Putin’s Saturday schedule includes an event to mark the anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, but it was supposed to take place via videoconference.
