Currently, specialized structures are discussing and developing ideas for changing the system of higher education in Russia. Specific proposals will be ready and announced by the summer of 2023, said the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov.

“By the summer, we are already announcing more understandable outlines of all changes, now we are discussing and working out approaches to what exactly will be improved,” Valery Falkov explained. Minister quotes TASS.

In May 2022, Falkov announced Russia’s intention to withdraw from the Bologna system. In November of the same year, the ministry proposed to single out the specialty as a separate level of education and make it the main one.

At the same time, bachelor’s and master’s programs are still preserved in the education system. The department is considering the possibility of reducing the period of study in the magistracy from two years to one year.

Already in March 2023, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation stated that in the new system of Russian education it would be possible to obtain professional and in-depth knowledge in just one year of graduate school.
