By the beginning of April 2023, employees of the foreign policy block of the presidential administration are ordered to change the iPhone to smartphones of other brands. About this publication “Kommersant” told several officials familiar with the situation.
According to Kommersant, the Kremlin is likely to buy new smartphones with enhanced security systems for the AP employees. Presumably, the iPhone ban will also apply to officials in regional administrations.
Sources of the publication believe that the order to change the iPhone to smartphones of other brands is dictated by security considerations. One of Kommersant’s interlocutors pointed out that employees of the presidential administration were advised to pay attention to smartphones running the Android operating system, or its analogues developed in China.
As an alternative, the Aurora operating system was also named – earlier the developers of this OS indicated that smartphones based on this base should provide data transfer security both in the public sector and for ordinary users.
