The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation is working on increasing the amount of scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation for graduate students up to 50,000 rubles a month. The increase is due to the transition to a new postgraduate model.
About it informs TASS, referring to the press service of the ministry. At present, the amount of such scholarships for graduate students is 4.5 thousand rubles per month. Postgraduate students who study in priority areas, that is, in the interests of the defense and security of the state, ensuring law and order, can count on a presidential scholarship in the amount of 14 thousand rubles a month.
Earlier it became known that the State Duma could amendedfixing the minimum amount of student scholarships at a level not lower than the minimum wage (SMIC). According to the initiators of the bill, the lower bar for the size of the scholarship should be the minimum wage – federal or regional, depending on which value is higher. The State Duma also voiced a proposal to establish a double payment for students receiving scholarships by the New Year – by analogy with the 13th salary.
