SpaceX will be ready to conduct the first launch of the prototype Starship spacecraft within a few weeks. This was announced by the founder of the corporation, American billionaire Elon Musk.
The launch time of the prototype spacecraft will depend on the timing of the issuance of a license by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, Elon Musk said on a social network. American businessman quotes TASS.
The SpaceX founder added that “the first launch attempt is planned by the end of the third week of April.”
However, Elon Musk spoke about the preparation of the Starship prototype for the first orbital flight in June 2022. On that moment businessman believedthat “Starship will be ready to fly next month.”
The Starship reusable spacecraft has been under development since 2012. Elon Musk hopes that this device will be able to carry out a manned flight to Mars. The Super Heavy launch vehicle was supposed to launch Starship into orbit.
Starship prototypes have made test flights several times, but so far they have passed within the Earth’s atmosphere. Only one flight test of this device (in May 2021) ended without destroying the device.
