Moldova is gradually joining the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia. Chisinau intends to extend sanctions measures to 25 Russian citizens because of the events in Ukraine, said Nicu Popescu, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI). According to him, we are talking about a ban on entry into the republic, as well as freezing bank accounts or assets of those individuals. About this March 19 writes RIA News.

At the same time, Popescu did not name specific names. However, he clarified that two weeks ago, the EU authorities asked Moldova to join a package of individual sanctions. In his opinion, Chisinau has chosen the European vector, so the restrictions should be supported.

The leadership of Moldova has previously stated that the republic will not join the anti-Russian sanctions. However, on March 17 it became known that Chisinau chose the European vector of development, since the CIS does not help Moldova.
