The Indonesian authorities are not taking steps to tighten the visa regime for Russian citizens. About this TASS reported official representatives of the Russian Embassy in Indonesia.
“The embassy drew attention to the recent proposal of the governor of the province of Bali, Wayan Koster, to suspend the issuance of visas on arrival to Russian tourists. However, there are no signs that the Indonesian government will take steps in this direction,” the source quoted the source from the staff of the Russian embassy in Indonesia as saying.
At the same time, the diplomatic mission noted that if the ban is nevertheless introduced, this could potentially lead to a decrease in the tourist flow of travelers from Russia to Indonesia, including to the popular island of Bali.
On March 13, Bali Governor Wayan Koster proposed stop issuing visas upon arrival for citizens of Russia and Ukraine. Koster claimed that he had already filed a corresponding request with both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice of Indonesia.
The Governor of Bali pointed out that recently his office has received a large number of complaints about tourists from the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Coster believes that citizens of both countries come to the island on tourist visas, and then start looking for work.
From January to March 2023, a total of about 43.6 thousand Russians arrived on the Indonesian island of Bali.
