The Indian diplomatic mission protested to the ambassador of the diplomatic mission of the United Kingdom in connection with the attack on the building of the Indian embassy in London.
“The UK’s most senior diplomat in New Delhi was summoned late this evening to strongly protest India against the actions taken by separatist and extremist elements against the Indian High Commission in London earlier in the day. An explanation was demanded for the complete absence of the British security service which allowed these elements to enter the premises of the High Commission,” the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. It published on the official website of the ministry.
We are talking about an incident that occurred earlier on Sunday. The separatists of the Khalistan movement, demanding the separation of the state of Punjab, freely removed the national flag of India from the building of the embassy of this country in London.
“The UK Government is expected to take immediate steps to identify, arrest and prosecute everyone involved in today’s incident and take strict measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring,” the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The former province of British India, Punjab, was divided between India and Pakistan in 1947 – the western, Muslim part, became the Pakistani province of Punjab. East, where mostly Hindus and Sikhs lived, became the Indian state of Punjab. Khalistan is a non-existent and unrecognized Sikh state in the Indian state of Punjab. India considers Khalistan its inalienable territory.
