Former player of “Zenith” Azmun will miss the match against Russia
Iranian national team football player Serdar Azmoun will miss the friendly match with the Russian national team due to personal circumstances, the Iranian ISNA news agency reported on March 19. The meeting will take place on the evening of March 23 at the Azadi stadium in Tehran.
Information about the match was confirmed by the Russian Football Union (RFU), writes RIA News. It is noted that the game will be held in the presence of fans.
Azmoun, who has been playing for the German football club Bayer since 2022, has been called up to the Iranian national team. However, the 28-year-old forward refused to participate in the training camp.
Before moving to the German club, Azmun played for Zenit St. Petersburg. The striker is 62 years old and has 17 assists in 104 matches for the Blue-White-Blues. As part of Zenit, Azmun became the champion of the country three times, he was repeatedly recognized as the top scorer according to the RFU. The Iranian also played for the Russian clubs Rostov and Rubin.
