Mold is a common problem that is quite difficult to deal with. It usually appears in rooms with high humidity, including bathrooms and toilets. Experts strongly advise against ignoring the fungus as it can cause allergies, asthma, and breathing problems.
For those who want to get rid of mold, the founder and CEO of eco-friendly cleaning company Spruce Mahira Kalim (Mahira Kalim) revealed a method that does not require the use of chemicals. According to the expert, citric acid copes with the problem quite effectively, writes Express.co.uk.
“Citric acid can be a great cleaning agent, whether it’s in a product or used on its own. It’s effective at fighting soap scum, hard water marks, calcium deposits, lime and rust, and can also help kill bacteria and mold,” Kalim said. In addition, citric acid is excellent for general disinfection and cleaning, as it does not cause harm to health.
To remove mold, the expert suggested diluting one tablespoon of citric acid powder in a cup of hot water, pour the mixture into a spray bottle, and shake well. After that, the solution must be applied to the area affected by mold and left for 10 minutes “to work.” If the fungus is particularly strong, you can rub it with a toothbrush.
However, Kalim cautioned against using citric acid on natural stone, marble, and wood surfaces.
