The fulfillment by Serbia and Kosovo of their obligations to normalize relations will become a condition for their admission to the EU. This statement was made by the head of the European Union’s foreign service, Josep Borrell, after negotiations between the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia.
“Everything that the parties agreed on: the agreement reached on February 27 in Brussels, and every action within the framework of the order of its implementation will become part of their path to the European Union,” – quotes Borrell TASS March 19.
He explained that the parties reached an agreement on a plan for the implementation of the normalization proposal. However, the agreed version was not as ambitious as it should have been initially. Borrell said that the negotiators “did not sign the agreement, although they agreed to start its implementation.” According to him, “the agreement will be considered approved by my statement.”
Earlier, the President of Serbia, following the results of the talks, said that Belgrade and Pristina agreed on several points. According to him, Pristina pledged to start the formation of the Community of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija.
