Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 19 for talks with President Mohammed bin Zeid Al Nahyan. At the airport, the Syrian leader was met by the sheikh himself, from where they went to the Qasr al-Watan palace. This was reported by Assad’s office.

The Syrian delegation includes a number of ministers, Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, as well as President’s wife Asma Assad, writes RIA News. The last time the Syrian President visited the UAE was in March 2022. As part of that trip, the leaders of the two states discussed issues of restoring partnership relations.

According to the Wall Street Journal, several Arab states that have not previously cooperated with the Assad government are seeking to restore relations with him.

The Syrian President visited Moscow this week. On negotiations issues of military-technical cooperation, as well as an increase in trade between the countries, were discussed with the Russian colleague. The participants in the talks appreciated the joint efforts to combat terrorism.
